Rome-and-VaticanDuration: 9 hours

Limo Tours of Rome and The Vatican

The Shared Shore Excursion to Rome leaves from the port transportation Terminal (next to Forte Michelangelo) located near the south gate of the port at 8:00am. When you exit your ship’s security area, please look for the free shuttle bus that will take you to the transportation Terminal (5 minutes ride) where the driver will be waiting. Once off the shuttle bus, please, look for your driver holding a sign with your name or Group name on. We kindly ask all the people to plan leaving the ship at least 20 minutes before the set departure time so that others don’t have to wait. In case a Group is formed from people coming from the same ship we pick you up at 8:00am directly at the dock so that you don’t need to take the shuttle bus. The ride to Rome is about 75 minutes in comfort with your private minivan. This is a tour designed for those who want to see some of the major highlights of Rome and a depth visit of the VaticanMuseum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. Then of course if some of you want to skip the Vatican tour just let us know so you continue to explore Rome while the others are there meeting up again before heading back to Civitavecchia.

Rome and Vatican Tours are a wonderful way to experience the splendor of the Eternal City. Making your way to the historical centre you will drive by the Circus Maximus, Palatine hill, Capitoline hill, Piazza Venezia that today aspect dates back to the late 19th century, dominated by the huge monument in honor of King Vittorio Emanuele II, named also vulgarly “the wedding cake” or “typewriter”. You will continue on to the magnificence of Ancient Rome with the Roman and Imperial Forums, the religious, political and commercial center of the early Rome, then stopping at the Coliseum for visiting inside: we can make reservations so that you skip the line going directly to the “reserved tickets desk”. Next you go by the Spanish Steps, before throwing your coins into the Trevi Fountain, designed by Bernini and completed only in 1762 by Nicola Salvi. Continuing on you stop at the glorious Pantheon, the best preserved and charming monument of antiquity: this architectural masterpiece was an excellent experiment of the abilities of architects in the very old Rome. Then you will see the famous Piazza Navona, the most baroque of Rome’s square adorned with the fountain of the Four Rivers by Bernini and the St. Agnese church of his rival Borromini. You will take a break for a traditional Italian lunch before you continue towards the world’s smallest State: the Vatican City. Your afternoon will be spent into the VaticanMuseum, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter Basilica before you are returned to your ship.

Entrance tickets to the Vatican Museum are extra and cost 20 Euro/person and you need to make reservation for the entrance at 2.00pm at the following link Vatican Museum Registration to be sure you will skip any possible line.

Also, we highly recommend you to have an Official Licensed guide for a 2,5 hours private tour of the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter Basilica with the use of head-sets at an extra cost of Euro 150 total to split among the number of people in the Group. This way you will have direct access to the Basilica without exiting the Museum so avoiding another security check, saving TIME and being certain to visit St. Peter inside.

Important Notes:

  • Ff possible wear or take with you comfortable shoes even if walking is limited, not like coach tours where you have to walk most of the day.
