Your English speaking driver-guide will meet you at your hotel in the city centre or any other place as previously arranged at around 7.30am to leave for your shared excursion into the Tuscan region, about 2 hours north of Rome, visiting Cortona and Montepulciano in a special encounter with history, great food and high quality wine. Cortona lies far atop a hillside dominating the south side of the “Chiana” Valley. The surrounding Etruscan walls contain the city’s beauty and nobility. From the fortress you can enjoy magnificent views of Lake Trasimeno and the surrounding forest along with vineyards and olive groves that produce some of the best wine and olive oil in all of Italy. As you explore the long narrow streets you will feel the appeal of Cortona, its people and its character.
After Cortona you will continue going to the hill town of Montepulciano, home of the famous “Vino Nobile di Montepulciano”, a wine that seems to originate in the 1300’s. The name probably comes from the fact that in ancient times noble families would choose the best grapes from the vine so that their tables would be graced with the highest quality of wines. Another fascinating attribute of Montepulciano is that it is one of the only places in the world where there are ancient underground cellars dating back to Etruscan times right in the heart of the town. Here you will visit one of these ancient cellars, below a city palace where the wine rests in Oak barrels maturing into what will be the future Vino Nobile. Take your time and discover that it is not only the famous wine that makes Montepulciano special but also the medieval atmosphere and friendly people. At the end of the tour you will drive back to Rome, about 2 hours, to be dropped off at your Hotel.

- watch out for your wallet and bags; it is recommended not to wear valuable jewelry.

Create a Shared Tour Date
If a shared tour doesn’t currently exist for this Shared Tour, please fill out the form and we can create one which other travelers can join (and save everyone some money!).
Payment DOES NOT include meals, entrance fees and gratuity.
Note that the driver-guide will not enter sites although giving explanations from the vehicle of what you are seeing. Only Official Licensed Guides are allowed to escort you inside places and, on your request, we can provide such service at an extra cost. The vehicle will accompany you for the entire tour.
Our Shared Tours are available to Groups with a minimum of 4 people up to 7 people to guarantee comfort and flexibility much alike private Tours giving you the opportunity to save some money.
Once a group is created, and a minimum of 4 people has joined it, we will ask for a non refundable down payment to guarantee the service then paying the balance due depending on total number of people on the day of service with cash money. We don’t accept credit cards as a form of payment on the day of service, we only accept cash in Euro and/or US$; if US$ we will give you the exchange rate of the day before the service increased by 5 cents.
Important notice: once you join a Group booking the service with your credit card payment, your Shared Tour is confirmed with us, even if you do not reach the maximum number of people, and the price per person only depends on the final Group size.
